1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda -100% Documented and Restored -Rare “In Violet” Color
Vehicle Description
1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda -100% Documented and Restored -Rare “In Violet” Color This 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda is a true high quality find for the discriminating collector. Meticulously restored to its original glory and accompanied by full documentation, and having fewer than 10 (ten) miles since the two-year plus restoration was completed, the condition is better than new. After the restoration was completed, it was stored in a climate controlled facility in a hermetically sealed storage bag for the best protection of its current condition. The restoration is supported with receipts, photos and video. This AAR ‘Cuda features a very high level of options and the incredibly rare “In Violet” metallic paint (commonly referred to as “Plum Crazy”) accounting for just 7.4% of the production run. The original Factory Build Sheets are included, and this one is well sorted and ready for display and judging at the highest level shows in the country. This car was featured in the 2022 Detroit Autorama (photo attached). The VIN, BS23JOB287534, provides documented insight into the car’s origin and specifications. It reveals that it is a Plymouth Barracuda AAR ‘Cuda with a 340 cubic inch TA Engine, 290 horsepower 3-2BBL (“Six Pack”) 8-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The assembly took place at the Dodge Main plant in Hamtramck, MI, USA on March 24, 1970. The sequence number indicates that it is the 187,534th vehicle produced. The total number of the AAR production was just 2,724- of those, it is believed to be one of 202 in the highly sought after color of In Violet, and of course, a much smaller number in this documented, high option level at the time of production with a stock 4-speed manual transmission. The engine was meticulously handbuilt by Mo-Par specialist Rich Koffel of Koffel’s Place in Walled Lake, Michigan producing an eye-popping 385 horse power as shown on the attached Dyno Sheet. In terms of technical features, this AAR ‘Cuda includes notable features such as: – Trans Am Package: Comprising front disc brakes, 11-inch rear drum brakes, a 3.55:1 8.75 rear axle, Sure Grip axle, high-capacity 7-blade torque drive fan, Rallye heavy-duty suspension with rear sway bar, front sway bar, and E60 × 15 (front) / G60 × 15 (rear) Goodyear Polyglas GT RWL tires. – Rallye Wheels: Equipped with 15×7 Rallye wheels featuring polished trim rings. – Rally Dash: Featuring a 150 MPH speedometer, trip odometer with push-button reset, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, ammeter, electric clock, and woodgrain instrument panel applique. – Space Saver Spare Tire, hood tie-down pins, front and rear spoilers, and rear bumper guards. – Tachometer, tinted glass all windows, prismatic rearview mirror, and front heater with defrost. The broadcast sheet and documentation further authenticate the car’s features, including the optional extras mentioned above. The image of the Broadcast (build sheet) document can be found in the image gallery bellow. This 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda represents a rare opportunity to own a meticulously restored and highly optioned muscle car. Its eye-catching “In Violet” color, powerful 340 engine, and extensive list of options make it a standout in any collection. It may well be the finest Cuda AAR in existence.
